Hi, I’m Max—a product designer based in Barcelona. I graduated from the Ironhack UX/UI Design Bootcamp in 2023 (Hackshow winner!) and now work as a freelance designer, helping clients solve product-related challenges.
In the past, I've worked on independent projects as a music composer, producer, and sound designer. I studied music production at university and, after graduating I began uploading music content to social media. Some videos ranked multiple millions of views which then led to people contacting me to write for indie video games, trailers, and other similar projects. Over the years I wrote music for clients while also releasing my original music online, teaching, collaborating, and selling info products via affiliate marketing.
In 2023 I decided to change my career path because, after years of working with headphones at full volume, my ears started ringing every time I spent more than 30 minutes producing. I was instructed to cut out the workload drastically or else my hearing would diminish over time, which wasn't viable with my work. So, I decided to call it quits while keeping music as a hobby instead.
So, why did I choose UX and product design? Honestly, it felt like a natural transition at the time because I believed the skills I had developed over the years could also be applied to this field. Was that accurate? Yes and no. I’d be lying if I said that sound design and video editing are regular parts of my UX work. However, dealing with clients and stakeholders was nothing new to me, and other skills—like graphic design, front-end development, and motion graphics—have proven to be incredibly useful. If I had to give an updated reason now, it would boil down to this: I enjoy solving real-world problems in a creative, collaborative environment, while hopefully making a positive impact. Product design gives me the opportunity to do just that. :)
